French star Kylian Mbappe posted a farewell message to coach Xabi Alonso, sacked by Real Madrid after their Spanish Super Cup final defeat. Mbappe thanked Alonso for his "trust from day one" and praised his "clear ideas" and footballing knowledge.

"It was short, but it was a pleasure to play for you and learn from you. Thank you for giving me your trust from day one," Mbappe wrote on his official Instagram account, alongside a photo of him shaking hands with Xabi Alonso.

The Real Madrid star was not the only one to speak out. Aurelien Tchouameni also did so. "It was a pleasure to learn from one of the greatest in history. I wish you all the best on your journey," commented the French midfielder.

Rodrygo Goes also added: "Thank you for every day shared, for the trust, the learning, and the moments lived. I wish you great success in the path ahead."

For his part, Dani Ceballos reiterated his gratitude to his former coach. "Thank you very much for everything, gaffer. With your ambition, your drive, and your way of seeing football, only great things await you. I wish you the very best," he stated. Arda Guler and Andriy Lunin also took the opportunity to offer their words.

"Thank you for believing and trusting in me from day one. Every conversation, every detail, every demand helped me shape my game and reach a higher level," the Turkish player expressed. "Thank you for everything, gaffer. You are a great coach, and you will achieve many successes. Good luck!" the Ukrainian recounted. Xabi Alonso is now part of Real Madrid's history, as the club now place their trust in Alvaro Arbeloa to steer their course.
