The rush hour for transfers

Until 31 January, rumours will be the order of the day and names such as Fabrizio Romano will be the go-to source for football fans to stay informed about the transfer market.

January is here, and with the new year comes the reopening of the winter transfer market. From the 1st until the market closes on 31 January, teams will be scouring the market in search of ways to improve their squads, even though they know that what they find may not be as reliable as what they find in the summer.

At this point in the season, sporting directors seek to fill the gaps left by poor summer planning or replace injured players. But if anything characterises this time of the season, it is urgency. The competition does not stop, and there is no time for planning as there is in the summer.

The names behind the signings

The transfer market is characterised by its immediacy, the anxiety to know the latest news on every deal that is made. And here one name stands out: Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist is known for his reliability, and when he announces ‘Here we go’ on X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram, everyone knows that the signing will be official in the next few hours.

Another leading figure in journalism when it comes to announcing new signings is Matteo Moretto. The Spanish journalist collaborates with Fabrizio Romano and is always very well informed about what is going on in the sporting departments of La Liga clubs. In the Premier League, one reference is David Ornstein, a journalist for The Athletic, who has always been very reliable.
