Gordon signs for Barcelona
The Catalan club has paid Newcastle a fixed fee of €70 million for the Liverpool forward, plus €10 million in add-ons

Anthony Gordon is now a player for Fútbol Club Barcelona. The English winger, who came through the youth ranks at Liverpool and Everton before making his debut for the Merseyside club, joins Barça with the aim of taking his career to the next level and competing for titles such as the EA Sports La Liga and, above all, the Champions League.
At Newcastle, where he has played three seasons at the highest level, he had the chance to win the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, as well as compete for a place in the Champions League. But the Premier League and the Champions League were out of reach. At Camp Nou, he is assured of being part of a team that goes out to win every match and has a chance to compete for every title it enters.
His last season has established him as a very complete player, as he has added a goalscoring ability to his dribbling and pace. Not for nothing did he score 10 goals in 12 Champions League matches, plus 6 in the Premier League. In total, he has scored 20 goals across all competitions, a figure that is by no means insignificant for a winger.
Gordon’s statistics for the 2025/2026 season with Newcastle
- Total matches played: 46
- Total goals scored: 20
- Goals in the Premier League: 6
- Goals in the Champions League: 10
- Goals in the FA Cup: 1
- Goals in the EFL Cup: 3
Focused on the World Cup
Against this backdrop, the coming season looks very promising for Anthony Gordon at Barcelona. The English winger will be surrounded by world-class stars such as Pedri and Lamine Yamal, two of the best players on the planet. Furthermore, Flick’s style of play suits his attributes perfectly, as he is a player who gives his all in every match.
But all that will come from August onwards. At the moment, Gordon is in the United States with the England squad to play in the 2026 World Cup. England are in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana and Panama. It is a relatively tough group, bearing in mind that there are others of a considerably lower standard than the English.
The team managed by Thomas Tuchel will make their debut on 17 June at 9.00 pm against Croatia in Texas. England’s second match will be six days later, on 23 June, at the same time. Their opponents will be Ghana and the match will be played in Massachusetts. England will conclude the group stage on 27 June at 10.00 pm against Panama in New Jersey. Come July, with the round of 16, the moment of truth will arrive.
