The Premier League title race is closing in on Arsenal

The Gunners struggled but beat Everton with two late goals, extending their lead over Manchester City by a further two points.

Manchester City drew away at West Ham, dropping two more points in their race for the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s side had chances but failed to find the net. The Cityzens are feeling the absence of Erling Haaland’s finishing touch, their most decisive player in the opposition’s box. The Norwegian is not at his best.

Arsenal, however, did not miss their chance. Mikel Arteta’s side beat Everton at the Emirates Stadium with two late goals, putting them nine points clear of Manchester City, although the Gunners have played one more game. Should the Manchester side win their match, they will be six points behind with seven games remaining. They still have to face each other at the Etihad Stadium.

The battle for Champions League places and survival is in full swing

Manchester United took a giant step towards the Champions League by beating Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Unai Emery’s side will be vying for two places in Europe’s top competition with Chelsea and Liverpool, who both slipped up at home. The Stamford Bridge side lost to Newcastle; Arne Slot’s team could only manage a draw against a Tottenham side in crisis.

Brentford are four points off the Champions League places, but missed a golden opportunity to close the gap to two after seeing Wolves snatch a draw from a match they were leading by two goals. From Everton, eighth with 43 points, down to Crystal Palace, fourteenth with 39, teams still have a chance to fight for a place in the Europa League and the Conference League next season.

As for relegation, it is almost impossible for Wolves and Burnley to stay in the Premier League. The other relegation spot to the Championship will be contested by West Ham, in the relegation zone with 29 points, Nottingham Forest, out of the relegation zone but also on 29, and Tottenham and Leeds United, who have 30 and 32 respectively. The coming matchdays could be crucial in determining who sinks and who catches their breath.
