The semi-finals are coming up at Wembley
On Saturday, Manchester City will face Southampton, whilst on Sunday it will be Chelsea’s turn to take on Leeds United.

One of the most special weekends in England is upon us. The leagues continue as usual, but Wembley is decked out to host the FA Cup semi-finals. The temple of English football will be the venue for two matches that will determine which two teams return on 16 May to battle for the title of the world’s oldest football competition.
The first semi-final will be played on Saturday between Manchester City and Southampton. Both teams are in their best form of the season, but the gulf in quality between the two sides is very noticeable. It would be a massive surprise if Pep Guardiola’s side failed to reach the final. Southampton are dreaming of it, but their priority is to return to the Premier League.
On Sunday, the second semi-final will be played between Chelsea and Leeds United. The Stamford Bridge side are the favourites, but are in crisis after losing their last five Premier League matches. Leeds, for their part, have their survival all but secured, but cannot afford to lose focus. It is an unpredictable match given the form of both sides, so neither extra time nor penalties can be ruled out.

Premier League Matchday 34, in play
This weekend isn’t just about the FA Cup semi-finals. Matchday 34 of the Premier League is also taking place, having kicked off midweek. All three teams involved in the semi-finals have played their matches. Manchester City beat Burnley away to move top of the table and seal their opponents’ relegation; Leeds United drew away at Bournemouth; whilst Chelsea lost at Brighton.
On Friday, Sunderland host Nottingham Forest. On Saturday, Aston Villa travel to London to face Fulham, whilst at 3pm Liverpool host Crystal Palace at Anfield, West Ham host Everton at the London Stadium, and Tottenham visit already-relegated Wolves in search of their first win under Roberto De Zerbi.
Saturday concludes with the clash between Arsenal and Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium, which could prove crucial in the Gunners’ title race. The round of fixtures wraps up on Monday at Old Trafford, where Manchester United, looking to secure their Champions League qualification, face Brentford, who are aiming to stay in the hunt for a Europa League spot or, failing that, a Conference League place.
