A tribute to football in Paris
PSG and Bayern Munich played a match that will be remembered for decades to come by football fans.

It is possibly the best match ever played in a Champions League semi-final. The 5-4 final score reflects what happened on the pitch at the Parc des Princes, where PSG and Bayern Munich delighted football fans with an attacking, direct style of play, which resulted in chances and goals at both ends throughout the ninety minutes.
The Germans got off to the better start, capitalising on it to take the lead through a penalty converted by Harry Kane. Luis Enrique’s side responded with two stunning goals: Kvaratskhelia’s equaliser and Joao Neves’s strike to make it 2-1. But Bayern didn’t crumble, and Olise levelled the score. Dembele, in the final move of the first half, made it 3-2 from the penalty spot.
The second half began just as spectacularly, and PSG exploited the spaces to score their fourth and fifth through strikes from Kvaratskhelia and Dembele. At 5-2, it looked as though Bayern Munich might crumble, but that is when they showed their character to dominate the final half-hour. Upamecano scored the third and Luis Díaz the fourth, a masterpiece. The 5-4 scoreline leaves everything to play for in the return leg at the Allianz Arena. A spectacular show is expected.
Results of the first legs of the Champions League semi-finals
- PSG 5-4 Bayern Munich
- Atlético Madrid 1-1 Arsenal
Everything will be decided at the Emirates Stadium
On Wednesday it was Arsenal’s turn, as they visited Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano. Mikel Arteta’s side secured a great result, as the 1-1 draw does not reflect the Spanish side’s superiority. This was particularly true in the second half, where Simeone’s men had chances to have won the match.
In a rather lacklustre first half, Arsenal took the lead just before half-time from a dubious penalty awarded against Gyokeres. The Swedish striker stepped up and converted it. Early in the second half, another controversial penalty, awarded via VAR, gave Atlético Madrid their chance. Julián Álvarez made no mistake and levelled the match.
In the final half-hour, Arsenal were outplayed by Atlético Madrid, but Griezmann, Lookman and Julián Álvarez failed to beat an outstanding David Raya, and everything will be decided next week at the Emirates Stadium. The match at the Emirates Stadium has effectively become a one-off knockout tie. The winner will be in Budapest for the Champions League final.
